WALKING TOUR OF DELTA MILLS AREA

 Join the Historical Society on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. as we take a walking tour through the historic Delta Mills area of Delta Township.

Delta Mills is the most historic section of Delta Township. Delta Mills was established by the Ingersoll family as a town before the City of Lansing had settlers. Walk past the historic Grange building where the farmers held dances and meetings. See the Methodist Church where the towns people would gather every Sunday. Walk past area homes, including the Ingersoll house which is over 100 years old. Come see the treasures right in our neighborhood.

Ken Wilson, a descendent of the Ingersoll family, will guide the group while giving a history of the area that was once a town with it’s own post office and general store.

The group will meet at the parking lot of the Delta Mills Methodist Church, 6809 Delta River Drive. Join the Historical Society on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. as we tour the historic Michigan State Capitol building.

Carl Kentner, our speaker from May, will guide us through the building on a tour that will showcase the history, restoration and workings of the state capitol.

Drive yourself and park at the meters around the capitol or in the parking ramp at the corner of Capitol and Allegan. We will meet on the ground floor at the reception desk.
